Redefining Hiring with AI: How Kendyl Matches Talent and Mission at Scale
Project Overview
Kendyl is an AI-powered hiring platform designed to help companies match with top global talent through smart interviews, role insights, and mission-aligned compatibility. The product serves two main user types: Companies(looking to hire) and Talents (job seekers). It enables efficient hiring workflows that go beyond resumes by focusing on values, culture, and real capabilities.
Key Features:
• AI Interviews: Talents and companies go through structured interviews to surface skills, values, goals, and expectations.
• Kendyl Score: A smart matching algorithm that evaluates fit based on six dimensions: Role Fit, Mission & Values, Timing & Logistics, Track Record, Team Synergy, and Ambition Alignment.
• Automatic Scheduling: Talents express interest by booking calls directly with companies, eliminating friction.
• Multi-Role Support: Separate dashboard experiences for talent and businesses, optimized for each use case.
Target Audience:
• Startups and mission-driven companies looking to hire high-performing remote talent.
• Experienced freelancers and full-time professionals seeking better-aligned opportunities.
Problem Statement
The hiring process often reduces candidates to resumes and keywords, resulting in bad hires, poor team fit, and long timelines. Kendyl set out to change that by creating a system that evaluates people more holistically — matching based on mindset, mission, and measurable capability.
On the company side, the challenge was designing a flow where businesses could create job postings, define role expectations, and make decisions quickly — all while maintaining clarity, structure, and AI-enhanced outcomes.
My Role
As the Product Designer, I led the UX/UI design for both the Talent and Business dashboards and multiple user flows. My responsibilities included:
• Designing onboarding and interview flows for both user types
• Prototyping dashboards and smart-matching interactions
• Building a scalable visual system
• Creating case study content, marketing visuals, and landing pages
I collaborated with:
• One Fullstack Developer
• The CEO/Product Owner
• A second UI Designer on the landing page
Design Process
1. Discovery & Strategy
• Identified key pain points in traditional hiring
• Defined how Kendyl’s approach would differ: AI-based, mission-aligned, structured signals
2. UX Flows & Interviews
• Designed separate onboarding and interview flows for business and talent
• Designed components for interviews, scheduling, and contract handling
3. Visual Design
• Created a design system that supports both dashboards and marketing
• Explored several styles and adapted based on feedback from the CEO
4. Landing Page & Brand Voice
• Created custom visuals to explain the Kendyl Score
• Crafted messaging and UX writing for the case study and landing
Challenges & Solutions
Challenge 1: Complex Interview Logic
Solution: Broke down the logic into reusable components and stepper-based flows for both parties, with contextual tooltips and validation.
Challenge 2: Mismatch Between Brand Voice and UI
Solution: Iterated on the tone, creating a system that felt trustworthy but modern — using softer UI, friendly microcopy, and clean visuals.
Challenge 3: Scheduling Without Friction
Solution: Let talents book calls instantly when interested in a job. Designed a confirmation screen and success emails to align expectations.
Key Takeaways
• Matching based on purpose leads to better long-term hiring outcomes.
• Microcopy and UX writing were crucial in making the platform feel alive and human.
• AI interviews require thoughtful UX to avoid overwhelming users.
• Collaboration with stakeholders helped shape branding while keeping the product consistent.
